Reply To: Z axis compression… constant failures…

Can I jump on this thread as well? While I don’t have issues with the z-axis height, I’ve been having several failed prints of the sample yoda provided on the website. It has taken be a couple months to build up the courage to try printing with the Titan. Last night I was hoping to get my first successful print off, but successful print not I shall have according to Yoda… I started with the default settings and increased exposure and slowed down the lifts. I am using the MG+ Black that came in the kit.

I must say that I am new to this type of printing. I’m more comfortable with my Makerbot Rep 2X. I attached a couple photos of my failed prints and the final settings that I had for the last one.

My first failure (not attached) I solved by increasing the exposure, reducing the lift speed, and increasing the lift height around layer 10-11. After measuring this piece, it is around layer 45, so before any change in setting. The side that is elevated is oriented towards the back of the machine (the actuator).

What is the next step? I am getting tired of having to switch vats/build plates and cleaning after every failed print.

Is there any general rules of thumb that I should follow? i.e. if the part sticks to the vat, increase exposure, reduce lift speed, increase lift height? This is what I have been following.

Also, how to you guys combat fumes/strong aromas? This resin stinks, even the parts afterwards. Any post treatment tricks for the parts and any tips for the actual smell from the printer?

Thanks,
Mike
